On June 12, Bobst and 11 partners welcomed over 100 of Mexico’s industry leaders in the label and packaging industry for a roadshow at the Intercontinental Presidente (Polanco) hotel in Mexico City.

The attendees learned how the simplicity of digital printing can be applied to flexo labels and packaging. Eric Pavone, business development director of the Bobst Business Unit, Web-fed, says, “The REVO Project Team aims to provide an answer on behalf of the flexo industry to the increasing importance of digital print, especially in label and narrow web packaging. The Project Team has developed a Plug & Play concept that expands the possibilities for flexo converters.”

Bobst invited 11 partners to the roadshow – Atlas Titan, AVT, Coim, Daetwyler Mexico, Dow, Esko, Kodak, Macro, Rossini, Siegwerk and tesa Twinlock  – who explained how their special knowledge and dedicated products in their own specific fields help to digitize the flexo industry, making it simpler in the process.

The topics ranged from next-generation flexo platemaking workflows, high-efficiency solutions in lamination and packaging solutions and value creation across the value chain, to maximizing CI press ROI with new flexo plate technology, as well as innovations and trends in flexible packaging. Mouvent, the digital printing competence center of the Bobst Group, introduced its digital solution.

Bobst revealed how its CI flexo printing presses give converters a competitive edge by maximizing process consistency and delivering solutions that are ready to take on the future requirements of packaging. “The very latest press in the range of Bobst CI flexo printing solutions, the 20SEVEN, delivers increased efficiency with conventional printing and the notable improvements in mechanical design and process control make the machine a perfect fit for the requirements of the 7-color Extended Color Gamut printing process,” says Pavone.

The Bobst 20SEVEN CI flexo press was officially demonstrated at an Open House earlier this year. It brings the advantages of process consistency and repeatability to a new level, delivering increased efficiency with conventional printing and is ideal for the requirements of the 7-color Extended Color Gamut (ECG) process. Bobst has been an advocate of the ECG concept since 2013 with the now well-established REVO 7-color Digital Flexo technology developed with leading industry suppliers for narrow and mid-web inline flexo presses. In 2017, Bobst introduced the THQ FlexoCloud, a fixed color palette solution for corrugated board post-print applications.

Together with its partners, Bobst turned the Mexico roadshow into a resounding success. “Many attendees said that we have shown them the benefits of digitizing flexo printing in label and narrow web packaging, while the success of the event was also clear from the interaction and participation of the audience. We are already thinking of organizing a speech at RS Mexico 2019,” adds Pavone.
